Hello, my name is Kellie Jacobsen and I've been principal at St Francis Xavier School, Goodna since 2023.
I warmly welcome you to our school website and I invite you to explore our school offerings, and to learn more about what makes St Francis Xavier an excellent choice for your child's Primary Education.
We acknowledge that parents are the first educators of their child, and we are committed to working in partnership with you, so that your child grows into a successful individual who makes a positive difference in the world in which we live.
At St Francis Xavier we endeavour to develop students' strengths and talents so that all students can experience learning success and achieve their potential.
I lead a group of teachers who are committed professional educators striving to promote the Catholic ethos in all they do. Further, they inspire the best in their learners through delivering the Australian Curriculum in an innovative and creative way with a Catholic perspective.
At St Francis Xavier we believe that learning is a lifelong pursuit, and that students learn best when they are engaged. Our teachers use inquiry questions to hook students' interests and present learning using a variety of modes – visual, auditory, tactile, and kinaesthetic. They explicitly teach the knowledge and skills in each of the Key Learning Areas of the Australian Curriculum.
We not only provide educational opportunities across all areas of the Australian Curriculum but specifically target literacy and numeracy. We acknowledge the importance of other Key Learning Areas and especially the Arts, Music, and Physical Education. We offer many before school and lunchtime clubs where students can develop or try these interests.
St Francis Xavier is well known and has an excellent reputation within the Ipswich community. We pride ourselves on the spirit that can be found in our students, staff and parents and it is these people and the very tangible culture of our school, which makes St Francis Xavier a great school, and a great community to be a part of.
As a leader I value positive partnerships with families, collaboration with staff and pride myself in knowing students as learners and living the Gospel in my words and actions. We really do strive to live out our school motto of “Kids Who Care".
I warmly welcome you to explore our website further and invite you to contact the school directly for more information and to book a tour with me.
God Bless,
Kellie Jacobsen
